June 3, 2010

View of the day-Finally got a picture of the JD picking up the last of his canola swaths east of Davidson, OK.

If only we would have known that it was not going to go until after lunch, we would have certainly slept in.

Al got to unload the truck at the elevator and decided since it was pretty damp out...from the dew, not the rain...maybe Marilyn should do a laundry run to Frederick. Marilyn agreed, but figured she might just as well run out to the field and service the combine before going into town...no sense in hauling a tank full of fuel. This way she could fill up the tank while she was in Frederick and have extra for later on when we got going. The laundromat was busy with harvesters that had gotten rained out...there were puddles on the road around Frederick.

Marilyn got back to the camper right at noon, and after grabbing a quick snack and unloading the laundry baskets, headed out to the field to take over combining from Al who had gone out earlier. She got to the field in time to clean up the last little bit and move over to the last field and start right in on it. The dust was flying everywhere as all the combines finally got into the fields.

Al was getting a bit backed up at the elevator so we ended up bringing the Freightliner out of retirement for overflow...and we had to use it because this field was yielding over 60 bu/ac. We had decided we were going to finish the field no matter what the time and we did...at 11:30pm.

Tomorrow we cross the Red River...
