View of the day-Ready to roll from Taylor with load 1 to Hamill.
We were up early to beat the heat and on the road by 8am. We had a bit of road construction to deal with...a couple of pilot cars to wait for...but otherwise, the trip went fairly quick. Even though the wind changed direction and we had to fight a north wind for the first time in a long time.
We got the combine and shop trailer parked on the side of one of the streets, got the General unhooked, then went over to check in with Cal, the landlord. After a chat with him, we were back on the road to Taylor. Seems strange making the back track in two vehicles instead of travelling together like we usually do in the Dodge...although it does goes a lot quicker with the General not having to pull anything.
We stopped in Bassett, NE for a sub and to cool off, then it was on to Taylor. We got the General hooked up to the tractor and cart trailer, so it would be ready to go tomorrow morning. Back at the camper, we tried to keep cool and just took it easy for the rest of the afternoon.
We went out for supper to the Double D again, and saw this horse and buggy go by the restaurant. It kind of tied in with some of the "Villagers" they have at various places around town and in the countryside. There is even an old couple standing and waving on a hilltop about 30 miles north of town...kind of looks ghostly, since they are all black and white coloring. Photos of them to come.
Lots of trouble in the sky to the SE of us, but we shouldn't see any of it here. Tomorrow, we roll north with the last load.
Still nothing on the Freight...
