July 31, 2016

View of the day-Toy Show bound. Got the caboose on the rig and ready to roll.

A busy month for us as we had three toy shows, a Renaissance Fair and with harvest forecasted to be early, we had to get things ready for that as well.

Killarney, Manitoba was the first toy show to head to they had the show in conjunction with their Pioneer Days. It was nice to get away from the busy daily lifestyle.
We take our camper to the summer shows, which makes it kind of a holiday and this year, although the traffic at the toy show wasn't as much as last year, it was still a good show. Bonus this year, when we left this time there were no tornado warnings.

The following weekend, it was off to Moose Jaw for the Western Canada Chapter 38 International Harvesters Club Roundup.
It was held at the Sukanen Ship Museum and we were housed in with a lot of old cars with lots of history.
There was plenty of IHC equipment on display and the weather was great.

We set up with mostly IHC toys and had lots of people complementing our display.

On the "off" weekend of the month, Marilyn had to help set up for the 2nd annual Renaissance Fair that the theatre group puts on. It was to go on the Saturday, but had to be postponed a day due to the rain that just had to show up to ruin things. Most of the vendors could make the Sunday, except for our Vikings, who were the big drawing card. There's always next year.

The last toy show for the summer was at the Yorkton Western Development Museum. They have their annual Threshermen's Show and we were set up in a big tent...and, as is usual in July, it was hot and humid inside the tent.
The Saturday was a great day with people coming through...although, once again, not as many as previous years. Sunday was busier as it usually has the larger crowd showing up.
However the weather turned nasty late Sunday afternoon the museum had to cancel the Parade of Power for the show at the last minute, due to the tornado and wind warnings. We started packing up and were almost done when the skies opened up. We got out of the tent a mere 10 minutes before the roof collapsed from the rain. It rained more than 2 inches in 45 minutes...there was a lot of water around with nowhere to drain, but we were fortunate to have not gotten as much at our place. We still got over 2 inches.

Let's hope it stays away for harvest...
